Marketing Trivia Quiz

February 2009

In the January edition of Achieve Marketing Success newsletter, we asked the following question:

Question: What one keyword should be in your marketing plan?

Congratulations go to Anne-Marie Graham of Healthforce who correctly guessed 'TEST' as the answer to the quiz from last month.

Answer: Test

Testing is so important when it comes to marketing. One thing a lot of people say is that they find it hard to know if their marketing works or not. If you test on a small scale, then you will know quickly whether that method is for you or not. You will have spend little, learned lots and won't be disillusioned about your marketing. You'll be ready to move onto the next method to test.

I got some great answers though so thanks to everyone who entered. Two that stand out as very good answers are from Mick McCarthy of Best-Art-Online and Tom Molloy of Flux Web Design. Mick Mc Carthy said quite rightly that there isn't just one keyword that should be included in the marketing plan. If there had to be one, then it has to be the customer. He maintains that you should focus on your customer and their problem, not about how great you are as a company.

Tom suggested 'Free' and explained why. By offering "Free" in your marketing, he believes that it is the most effective way of 'getting your foot in the door'. It incentivises the reader to continue reading or to take some other action.

This Months Quiz

The quiz this month is a little different. I'd like to know the following:

1. How did Pepsi-Cola get its name?

2. What did Anheuser and Busch name Budweiser beer for?

3. Where did H.J. Heinz get his "57 Varieties" slogan from?
