Introducing Good News Thursday
Let’s share our good news stories about our businesses - I know, through talking to many SMEs out there, that there are good news stories out there - so why not tell the world about them?
These days, we shouldn’t be so shy about our achievements and accomplishments.
Why Thursday?
Why not?! Thursday is the perfect day for sharing our stories. It will keep us motivated to get stories to share with others and it will keep us driven over the weekend.
If you could share with me your short story, I’ll post them all on Thursday…under the aptly named Title ‘Good News Thursday’!
Good News Thursday - 12th June
This week sees a company winning a third award in six months and expanding their employment count while another is nominated alongside big corporate IT hardware companies. We learn about a plastics company that is investing in new technologies while another is teaching others to exploit new technologies. Finally, more good news when we read about a business that is thriving, not just surviving in recessionary times.
It’s been a while since we wrote a Good News Thursday blog. Bank holidays, family weekends and lack of good news all added to the non posting of Good News Thursday.
But thankfully we’re back with a few good news stories. We have news on recruitment and have an entry under the innovative ideas section.
Keep sending those stories through….
This week sees two new fantastic business ideas in the Innovation section, a theatre company launching its first summer season and there are positions available under the recruitment section.
The May bank holiday has put everyone back a day so when I went looking for good news stories, I found them a little light on the ground. Must be the Leinster win over Munster. That’s definitely a good news story (even if it isn’t related to SMEs!) Even still, I found one company hiring and expanding, a restaurant & bar getting into the swing of the Irish Open and a rumour of a group of entrepreneurs coming together to conquer the world (more to come on this next week)!
Good News Thursday - 30th April
A little sojourn in the Scottish Highlands took me away from focusing on stories in GNT. (No recession in our house!) Even still, those good news stories keep coming. Read more information on SMEs still hiring, expanding and launching new products.
Good News Thursday - 23rd April
No mention of the three sunshiney days in a row on GNT (but HAD to mention it here!).
This week, we see the success of networking - whether it’s twitter based or face-to-face networking. Despite the downturn news and lack of growth figures, there are jobs planned both in Louth and Waterford.
Good News Thursday - 16th April
The good news on this Thursday was that the GNT were stuffed with Easter eggs so decided to take a break to celebrate the holidays!
Good News Thursday - 9th April
Happy Easter everyone! For this weeks Good News Thursday, we have news on two enterprise centres, an innovative (and fabulously glamorous) business idea, €10,000 up for grabs and more recruitment.
Good News Thursday - 2nd April
For this week’s GNT, we see the launch of a new twitter application, a Hollywood actor going to the Dogs, more recruitment and a national award winner.
Good News Thursday - 26th March
I didn’t mention the Grand Slam or Bernard Dunne in this weeks Good News Thursday but what a weekend!
For this week’s Good News Thursday, we have two companies that are recruiting, one of the biggest streets in Dublin wants to create a ‘Cheers’ and a Shop Local Initiative is launched.
Good News Thursday - 19th March
This week was a good week - we celebrated St Patrick’s Day and all things Irish. Even though it was a holiday week (for some), we still have good news. Read more about €2million in savings for property buyers, Hollywood coming to Ireland and Hookies Twitter Party.
If you have an extra two minutes, check out the Barn Find powerpoint.
Good News Thursday - 12th March
This was the start of it. Check out how one company has helped 3 people lose 40lbs of fat, another is helping to sponsor 1,500 children in Africa and another wins Best Business in Louth Award.

Why do we say 11% unemployed and 62% 0f companies this year will not be hiring people.
We should be saying 89% of people are employed and 38% of compamies are looking to hire in 2009 maybe you could play on this for good news Thursday
