Introduction
Feel the (Recessionary) Fear but Market Anyway
Thanks to all for your positive feedback on the last issue. Special thanks to those who have forwarded to friends or colleagues. To know that I'm providing useful information not only to my networks and colleagues but to others is so motivating. Bring it on I say, so please feel free to forward to your colleagues.
This edition is all about FEAR and ACTION. I'm reminded about one summer years ago, while I was an active member of the Red Cross, the boy members all wore 'No Fear' tops and jeans. It was THE thing at the time. The boys put that into practice with all the high jinks that they got up to! I think these days we can do with a little 'No Fear' or at least admit that there is fear but we're going to meet it head on. As that saying goes, Feel the fear, but do it anyway.
There are a couple of facts and fictions at the moment: Fact: We are in a recession. Fiction: People & companies have stopped buying. Fact: People & companies are still buying but are valuing their spend more. Fiction: Talking about the recession will help us.
I said in last month's edition that this is the year for massive action. Just because we are in a recession, doesn't mean that we should stop. What we should do is stop talking about it and start offering real value to our customers and tell them (and more importantly show them) how we can solve their problems.
It's a fearful time. But fear is a bad emotion. For anyone who has ever skiied, they know that being afraid to fall is the worst thing for a skier - because if you're afraid when you fall, you tense up and tend to hurt yourself. If you don't have that fear, you may still fall, but it won't hurt (or as much!).
The same happens to your business. If you are afraid, chances are that you're not being creative or taking massive action. So feel the fear, know that it is a fearful time but you've build a business that deserves to be marketed.
Until next time,
Denise
