Achieve Marketing's Good News Thursday Featured in 'Women Mean Business' Newsletter
On a rainy day in March, Denise Fay of Achieve Marketing got sick of listening to the bad news about job cuts, businesses closing, falling property prices and general negativity. So she set about creating a weekly blog written on a Thursday, aptly named 'Good News Thursday' - www.achievemarketing.ie/blog/good-news-thursday
"SMEs comprise over 90% of the businesses in Ireland. Why then is the news focusing on the 10% of businesses in the country? There are many, many companies, hiding their lights under bushels, and it's time to change that." said Denise Fay, Director of Achieve Marketing
Good News Thursday's aim is two-fold - to promote SMEs businesses and celebrate small & big successes. Each story consists of approximately four sentences with links so if readers want more information, they go straight to the story. Thursday is the ideal day to send it out - it gives companies time to gather stories and will help companies stay driven over the weekend to get more stories.
Over 90% of businesses in Ireland employ less than 50 people and are defined as SMEs. It's time to celebrate their successes and keep the levels of optimism up. "The power of optimism can't not be underestimated and the good thing about optimism is that it can be learned." explained Fay. "It's a choice that you take - be optimistic and see the opportunities or choose pessimism and listen to the negativity. Good News Thursday is optimistic."
To keep the blog going, she needs more stories from SMEs. Some of the good news stories could be the end-of-decade success stories. Who knows? It's time for SMEs to support one another, celebrate each others achievements and promote good businesses.
